Illinois and Nebraska fans set to travel to Dublin, Ireland in their thousands for the big College Football game on August 28, 2021. we are giving the golf fanatics among you to the opportunity to take on the opposition on the golf course before the big game. Fly into Dublin or Shannon and transfer to Galway on Sunday, August 22 before settling in for the week and competing in Lahinch, Enniscrone, Connemara, and Galway Bay.
No visit to Ireland is complete without a visit to The Wild Atlantic Way on the West Coast. Stay in Ireland's most loved city of Galway and and you are in for a cultural experience that will live long in the memory. Day 1
Arrive in Galway
Arrive in Shannon or Dublin Airport and make your way to Ireland's favourite city of Galway.
Accommodation is at the highly rated and excellently located Foster Court Hotel. A welcome reception will be held in one of Galway's livliest city centre pubs, An Pucan. Take it easy before golf tomorrow!
Day 2
Play Lahinch GC
Lahinch is widely acknowledged as a must play on any golf trip to Ireland. Home to the annual South of Ireland Amateur Open Championship and a most worthy venue for The Irish Open in 2019, An ideal location to commence the Illinois V Nebraska Links Challenge. Return to Galway after golf
Day 3
Play Enniscrone
Travel Nouth to take on the beast that is Enniscrone. This is a World Class Links and regarded by many as one of the best golf courses in Ireland. Enniscrone is simply spectacular and often proves to be a visitor's favourite when reviewing their trip. Will you help your team take command of the Links Challenge today!
Day 4
Connemara GC
After a stunning drive from Galway, you will arrive at a golf course that has earned a host of enthusiastic admirers including Tom Watson, who suggests this is "A true championship links, the elevated greens on the back nine are spectacular." This is moving day in the Links Challenge. Return to Galway after golf for another great night.
Day 5
Play Galway Bay
This Christy O'Connor Jnr design is set against the backdrop of world-famous Galway Bay. Simply stunning! Galway Bay is where Padraig Harrington secured his first selection for the European Ryder Cup team. Will you secure your team's victory today? After golf enjoy a Gala dinner at the majestic Galway Bay Golf Resort.
Day 6
Transfer to Dublin
Any visit to Ireland would not be complete without a visit to the Guinness brewery. Where better than to apply the "hair of the dog" after an evening drowning your sorrow or hopefully celebrating your team's first victory of the week at the Links Challenge. Check into the superbly located Grafton hotel in Dublin for two nights.
Day 7
Game Day
Enjoy a cooked or continental breakfast before exploring Dublin's fair city for the day. This will be a good opportunity to visit historic places like Trinity College or Kilmainham Gaol. Shopping on Grafton Street will be an option for many. One thing for sure though, the atmosphere will build throughout the day before the big game at the Aviva Stadium.
Day 8
Departure Day
Whether golfer golfing or sightseeing for the previous week we expect you will be departing having had one of the best weeks of your life. Old friends and new will depart from home, hopefully with a victory under your belt but most importantly with memories that will last a lifetime.
