My late grandfather introduced me to the game of golf at the tender age of eleven. I vividly remember him helping me with my first 7 iron swing, unknowingly setting me on a path which would shape the rest of my life. Twenty years later, having been a professional golfer on the 3rd tier of the European Circuit and having gained experience in the tour operator game, Lyons Links has become my life. It is a privilege to be able to work in the field I love, and I want nothing more than for you to have the best possible trip with us.
As a former pro golfer, I managed the logistics for a number of the players on the tour and it became apparent that I had a talent for organisation and management. My own high standards for hotels, restaurants and golf courses means that our Lyons Links clients only experience the best in hospitality when they travel with us.
I have travelled all over and played in some of the world’s finest golf courses. This experience allows me to confidently say that courses around the UK and Ireland are unparalleled, with the hospitality in a league of its own. We at Lyons Links know that our partners in hospitality and golf share our objective – for guests to have the best possible experience.

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Joe Lyons and I have been a Golf Fanatic all my life. From the age of nine when I first picked up a club to this day, the game of golf has seduced, intrigued, beguiled but most of all frustrated me. With a passion for amateur golf instilled in me from an early age by my Dad, I went on to compete and win a number of championships across the UK and Ireland in an amateur career, which includes International Honours and is now going into its third decade.
Visiting and competing at best links venues on the planet has been a privilege and has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the best seaside golf destinations in Ireland, Scotland and England. I should also advise that there are some exceptional parkland destinations too. Having visited these venues and localities over such a lengthy period, I have a vast network of friends and my reputation within the Golf is well founded.
After twenty years of caring for the more vulnerable in Society as a Social Care Worker, I made a career move to the Golf Industry. I now care for clients and no stone is left unturned to ensure Golfers coming to experience our majestic links are cared for in a manner second to none.
Cian Booth, Director of Operations
Cian joined the team at Lyons Links in 2020 and became a Director two years later. He had previously gained valuable experience in New Zealand working for a highly respected golf tour operator over a three year period. The role included organising events for New Zealand Golf as well as managing inbound travel for golfers coming from overseas. On returning to Ireland, he was able to combine this experience with his intimate knowledge of the Irish golf landscape. Cian prides himself on planning interesting and varied itineraries to meet the needs of each group coming to enjoy golf in Ireland and across the UK. Aside from taking charge of the Operations side of the business, Cian swims and cycles year round and enjoys both yoga and cooking.
Millena Theisen, Operations Manager
I'm Millena Thiesen, Operations Manager at Lyons Links. In my role, I focus on organizing the logistical aspects of your golf experience. While the sales team actively engages with you, my responsibility is ensuring that all the details are in place for your trip—checking bookings, making payments to our suppliers, and handling other essentials.
With a professional background in International Business, I bring a strategic and detail-oriented approach to our operations, providing an international perspective to the Lyons Links team. A bit about me beyond work: I'm passionate about dogs. Not a golfer myself, but I genuinely enjoy seeing the passion our team has for the sport and am gradually learning the ins and outs. As a Brazilian, I naturally have a love for football—a twist everyone might not expect.
Shane O'Hara, Golf and Events Coordinator
Having spent several years in event coordination in the sports industry, I have honed my ability to plan, execute and oversee a wide range of sporting events, ensuring they run smoothly and leave a lasting impression on attendees. I take pride in coordinating itineraries, with a strong attention to detail. I have been fortunate to be involved in the preparation stages for the Irish Open golf event in recent years and this experience has given me an appreciation for how the very best golfing events are organised.
I am very proud of my country's collective appetite to embrace visitors to our shores. The locals want visitors to experience the best of our island and help to create amazing memories. I take considerable satisfaction in seeing the excitement experienced by visitors on the trips we build at Lyons Links.
