Golfing in Ireland's Ancient East
The Capital City of Dublin is situated in the Heart of Ireland's Ancient East. The area is littered with exceptional links course and boasts Ireland's only Ryder Cup venue on its doorstep. Stay at the K Club and enjoy the Palatial surrounds or maybe stay in the heart of Dublin City in Ireland's most Iconic Five Star Hotel, The Shelbourne. Either way, there is an array of things to do close at hand and of course spectacular golf.
Day 1
Golf at The Kclub
Arrive in Dublin airport and be greeted by a Lyons Links Guide. Transfer to The K Club for Golf at The Palmer Course. The Palmer course is spectacular and while every hole offers a beautifully presented challenge, holes 7, 16 and 17 will be forever imprinted in your memory. The Palmer Course to this day is still Ireland's only Ryder Cup venue. After golf, relax in the Palatial Surroundings of The K Club, one of Europes Top Golf Resorts.
Day 2
Portmarnock GC
Transfer to Portmarnock Golf Club. Portmarnock is currently ranked as The Number 1 Golf Course in the Republic of Ireland. A traditional links, that has successfully hosted umpteen Professional and Amateur Championships down through the years. The club has become the first club outside of the UK to be awarded the hosting of The Amateur Championship by the R&A which takes place June 17 to June 22, 2019.
Day 3
The European Club
In our opinion, the course designer and owner Pat Ruddy has created a masterpiece here. His design skills met with Global approval at last years Irish Open at Ballyliffin, however, we think it's safe to say The European Club is Pat's spiritual (and physical) home. A simply epic golf course that is hugely challenging from the tips. Padraig Harrington prepared extensively here prior to his 2 Open Championship victories
Day 4
Royal Dublin
Like Portmarnock, Royal Dublin will long be associated with the Halycon Days of Irish golf, when names such as Ballesteros, Langer, Lyle, Woosnam and Faldo battled for success around these iconic courses. There is a huge rivalry between both clubs and both have hosted numerous professional and amateur championships. Christy O'Connor snr, "The Greatman"''Himself" was the club's professional for 57 years.
Day 5
County Louth GC
Yet another stunning links on Irealnd's East Coast, County Louth also affectionately known as "Baltray", is truly a golfing mecca. This club has produced a string of top amateur and professional golfers in both the men's and ladies games. The club has also hosted two Irish Opens one of which was won in dramatic fashion by the then amateur Shane Lowry. lots of great holes here but the Par threes are truly World Class.
Day 6
The Island GC
The Island is many people's favourite links on the East Coast. High praise indeed considering its neighbours. It is stunning! The club has hosted multiple (British) Open Championship qualifiers and Irish Amateur Championships. The only reason it has not hosted an Irish Open is due to the logistical challenge access presents. It will however co-host the Amateur Championship with Portmarnock in 2019.
Day 7
Portmarnock Links
The new kid on the block! Designed by Bernhard Langer and opened for play in 1995. It didn't, however, take long to establish itself which is reflected in the fact that it was rated as high as Number 14 in the World by one recent publication. Ireland's best amateurs and pros compete in a Winter Series here throughout the off-season. The closing holes from 15 through to 18 present a challenge be-fitting any great links.
Day 8
Departure Day
Enjoy a cooked or continental breakfast at your hotel for transferring to your airport of choice either by car hire or by Lyons Links tour guide. Departing from Dublin airport is particularly convenient for our North American clients as guests can "pre-clear" customs in both these airports, thereby ensuring ease of passage when you touch down home. We are pretty sure you will bring home memories that will stay with you forever.
